Changing Plans In Wyoming
Don’t worry, the overall plan hasn’t changed. It’s that on each of my first 4 days in Wyoming I haven’t ended up doing what I thought I would.
Leaving Echo Canyon (a couple hours later than I’d planned) I crossed back into Utah to follow Flaming Gorge north. I chose to take the road on the west side which really didn’t offer than many views of a gorge. Much of the gorge may be filled in with Flaming Lake now that there is a dam at the bottom. I did go over another high pass with snow flurries as I eagerly awaited the descent on the other side. It eventually arrived and I found a primitive recreation area camp on the lake. Read more
Win A Travel Book #4
The winner of the second contest selected The Voyage of the Beagle by Charles Darwin. I had this book to get me ready for the trip to the Galapagos Islands that I took in November of 2008. I’ve broken the options down for places to stay into 7 categories. Read more
Ride Report #2
Another 2,500 miles of travels have come and gone on the motorcycle bringing me just shy of 5,000 on the trip. These miles were smoother than the first round literally and figuratively. I still took my fair share of dirt roads, but none nearly so rocky as Big Bend was. Read more
Rock Arches For All
The winds from Canyonlands continued through the night. An especially large gust woke me up as I lay one my side watching the tent wall rattle around. I felt part of the gust blow over my sleeping bag thinking how glad I was not to be outside. With that a load of dust fell into my ear as the air settled in the tent. Could have done without that.
