The Kroschel Film Wildlife Center
ShareOk, you’re finally getting some wildlife closeups and I even got to pet lots of the animals! It’s one of the few tours I’ve done on the trip, but well worth it. Even with the 41 Princess Cruise guests I didn’t know were going to be there :O
About 30 miles north of Haines, AK is the Steve Kroschel Wildlife Center. Steve has been raising and filming animals all of his life and now has a substantial collection of animals in his zoo for both his and others filming use. You name the company and they’ve been there; National Geographic, Discovery Channel, BBC… Not only do you get to see the animals up and about, but many of them are hard to see anywhere else. Onto the pics!
There are even more in the slideshow so watch that or see the even bigger here.

OH WOW! The lynx looks amazing! They have always been some of my most favorite animals.
I really wonder how many “awws” this post will generate…
It may get a few now that the pictures are working. The lynx was awesome, always wanted to see one of them.
Our family had a pet Lynx.
They are amazing creatures but not very graceful. Very smart as well, as he was able to open doors in the house.
How does one end up with a pet lynx???
Hi Brian, hope all is well. I’m headed down to Voca in a couple weeks. Where you headed to next?
That was weird. I sorted it out. I’m in Homer Alaska and heading to Seward next. I wanted to go to Dawson City in the Yukon from there, but the road is closed and doesn’t look like its opening soon. Have fun in Voca!
This is the coolest place I have heard of in awhile. I absolutely have to see it someday. I love how delightfully crusty all the guys with the animals are. Thanks for sharing Brian! The pine marten especially. So good.
Hope you’re well!
Doing great, same to you. I thought the mix of crusty guys and cute critters was great as well.
